As part of NetworkNature, Blue Rivers Foundation (BRF), together with the IUCN European Regional Office, is developing EcoField Tracker, an open-source citizen science mobile application focused on rivers and freshwater ecosystems.

EcoField Tracker will enable users to upload photos and answer simple questions related to river conditions, biodiversity, and recreational value, supporting better understanding and protection of freshwater ecosystems.

The app is currently in its early development phase, and we are seeking input from professionals, organisations, and practitioners working in freshwater conservation. Your insights will help us better understand:

  • Which factors are critical for the success of a citizen science app
  • How to effectively engage citizens in freshwater conservation
  • What types of data are most valuable for your work or organisation

Your feedback will directly shape the development of EcoField Tracker, helping ensure it becomes a practical, relevant, and engaging tool for the freshwater community.

Thank you for taking the time to share your insights. We look forward to keeping you updated on the app’s progress and future opportunities to collaborate.

EcoField Tracker is developed by Blue Rivers Foundation within the framework of NetworkNature, with the IUCN European Regional Office as the partner responsible for overseeing the project. This project is funded by the European Union.
